About Vela

Vela is a beautifully restored Ranger 33, Gary Mull’s classic racer cruiser sailboat design. I’ve owned Vela for the past 20 years, during which time she has been both restored and updated as well as extensively sailed. The hull, sails, deck and rigging installations, canvas and upholstery are all first quality. The installations of electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, heating, plumbing systems are all carefully thought out and installed with no detail ignored in updating this vessel to modern standards. She is rigged for single-handed sailing from the cockpit making for safe travel, even in rough conditions with inexperienced crew. Over the past 20 years, Vela has logged over 12,000 miles of coastal BC sailing – several times out to the west coast of Vancouver Island, through the inlets and outer coast from Bella Bella south, including trips, too many to count, through the Salish Sea, Desolation Sound and tidal passages to Queen Charlotte Strait. Vela is an extremely well-equipped and rugged coastal sailor, enabling comfortable travel in a wide range of wind and sea conditions. Her meticulous care and maintenance have resulted in a very reliable boat with no deferred maintenance.

Moorage is assumable at the Oak Bay Marina, Victoria, BC.
